What can I say? It was the perfect first date.
And he brought a helicopter. Who does that? And not just a helicopter. But stickers, reflectors, a training top and cloths (!). Cloths with hearts on. The Moomins on. Cloths with drawings on. With quotes on. And symbols on.
“And yeah, look at this!”, he said, while pulling different things out of his bag. And then, he spread them across the living room table. “Cool, huh? They have an insane absorption capacity. You can machine wash them, and everything! They`re from Sweden! Cool, huh?! ».
«Wow! Very cool!”, I replied. “And look at that! Hearts and everything! Very sweet. I have to say…! ». I laughed, flirted and made semi-fun-of-him, -all at the same time.
“Yeah. They`re crazy smart. If you spill milk, then…! You won`t believe it! Just…in a flash… Everything, up. Cool, right? And look at this! ». He kept pulling things up. He was like a kid in a candy store. Or, like a kid who had been to the candy store, – and now was home, dying to show mum how much he had got (!).
«And this helicopter! It’s so cool! Your sons are gonna love it! ». He picked it up from the table. Took it out of the package and handed it to me. “Come on! Your try!”. He smiled. His beautiful, boyish smile. And then, all of a sudden, -the world stopped for a while.
So, this was the guy I had talked to on the phone, the other day. Just a bit more excited, now. However, he`d been energetic on the phone, too. Delightfully so. And funny. Interesting. And interested. We had talked while I was in the schoolyard, waiting for the kids. We had talked for one hour. Right up until the bell had rung, – and all the kids had stormed out. We had talked for an hour, -but what had felt like five minutes. Not once, were there any awkwardness. Any silence. No. It was just easy. Fun. And wonderful.
And it was pretty wonderful, now, as well. I could feel myself glowing (hopefully, though, it didn`t show too much). My heart was speeding. And somehow, it felt as though, for each little thing he babbled about, -almost sold on. Well. That I was sold, too.
«Ehm… Okay, yeah! Let me try this!” I replied, laughing. And there we stood. On the living room floor, a late summer day, pushing a helicopter back and forth in the air. For each little puff, it rose a bit higher. Before it quickly fell down or fell, completely, onto the floor.
“So, Grefsen. What do you say! Should we grab some food and then fix the pool? ». But he insisted that we start emptying first. After all, he said, -it was important to show he was `a man of his word`. He hadn`t driven a-l-l the way from Oslo, just to get himself a free meal. He would have this pool emptied, one way or the other, he said, -even if it`s the last thing he`d do. He might as well have said he would take care of me, forever. That someone would help me empty this overdimensional pool– was more than I could ever have dreamt of, -and it sure outclassed even the nicest of flowers, wine or chocolate!
Therefore, while standing out in the hallway, I couldn`t help but take a closer look at him. This guy, full of enthusiasm and joy. Who had taken me all by surprise. And then, it happened. Our eyes met. However, now, in a completely different matter. The whole room felt electric. My body felt electric. And I guess he felt it, too, -because he came closer. Grabbed hold of my waist and pulled me close to him. And then, we kissed. Became one. And was led. Into temptation. Lust. And lovemaking.
What can I say? It was magic.
